This week with Team Stride

This week we were all in class and still reeling from our egg victory last week. We took that positive synergy and applied it to a poster for our team. We brainstormed and cam up with a design that we felt fit our teams goals. We are making bonds, creating community, having good times, eliminating B.S., and taking strides to the future!

We also defined our assignments for this week in regards to preparing for the upcoming presentation. We are each coming up with three questions for the class to answer, and we are writing out our own speaking parts.

We plan on meeting out side of class this week so that we can further discuss what we have come up with. We felt that the one way that our team could improve would be to communicate more out of class. To get that ball rolling Samantha has saved all of the groups numbers into her phone and will call all of us this week to make sure that all is well. Peter has a cold and we all hope that he is doing well very soon. He is such a trooper and even though he was sick he still came to class! We ROCK!!!

Crack the Egg

Egging the school!

We had an in class team activity the other day and we thought we would share with you our success. All the teams were given a certain amount of points and a limited amount of supplies were auctioned off among the teams using the points as currency. There were napkins, paper towels, 2 styrofoam bowls, two plastic cups, a manila envelope, Cabrillo letter envelopes, string, tape, flash cards and folders. The mission was to create a casing for your teams egg that would help if survive being thrown off one of the second story balconies of Cabrillo's campus.
Once the supplies were listed we constructed a plan on paper and listed the materials that we were going to bid on. At the end and with no points left we had all we needed. We had a cup, the manilla envelope, tons of tape, a Cabrilllo letter envelope and some paper towel. This is what we came up with...

Week Two

All of us were present today in class. Peter came to class today with a logo for our team. I will put it at the bottom of the blog.
This week we discussed, how we will present information on the person that we have chosen to sponsor. We've chosen a man in Russia who works construction to support his family of six, who needs help with starting his agribusiness.
Here is the link if you would like to check him out: http://www.kiva.org/rss/businessSingle?busId=60201.

We are also talking about our leadership presentation and who will be responsible for what portion of reading the book we have chosen which is, "Emotionally Intelligent Leadership". We each have assigned reading parts for this next week.
We will all take detailed notes on what we read and report back with enough copies for our team.

P.S. Hi Team-consider taking notes in google documents under our gmail email address 'teamstride'. If this is too much technology savvy stuff for you, it's A-ok!

Week One

Today, we have officially created a name-TeamStride and a blog.
We are currently researching strategies for raising money to invest
in entrepreneurs on Kiva.org. There is the possibility of a bake sale one of these weekends at a local Farmer's Market.

The money we raise will be given to an individual, or group consisting of struggling entrepreneurs around the world. We will provide funds for a new business, or make necessary additions to an existing one.

Your contributions can be donated or invested in helping amounts of $1 to any amount you desire. We will then invest to a person/s and if they succeed, your investment will come back to you. You can then continue helping others or live with the fact you have made positive changes.

Looking good!
